Water Filters
Buying a water filter for backpacking and the outdoors
With a portable water filter you can fill your bottle from a stream or lake along the way, so you have to carry less water. Handy on walking trips, backpacking trips and at the campsite, and as an addition to your emergency kit.
Which water filter should you choose?
- Water filter 1000L: small and light (about 100 grams), for day trips
- Water filter 1500L: about 60 grams and 13 cm long, for multi-day trips and backpacking
- Water filter 4000L: for long trips or groups
The number in the name is the amount of water you can filter with it. All filters are BPA-free.
A water filter for backpacking
While backpacking, every gram counts. A compact water filter weighs less than an extra litre of water and fits in a side pocket of your backpack. That way you top up along the way whenever you come across a stream or lake.
What does a water filter filter out?
The filters are intended to filter bacteria and parasites out of water. They do not remove viruses, chemical pollution or salt. So always choose the cleanest possible water source and follow the instructions.
